Daily memory for vehicle handover
Maximum availability for vehicle delivery
BMW Welt in Munich is a very special kind of customer center. New car buyers are handed over their new BMW as part of an unforgettable vehicle collection. The vehicle is brought to "BMW Welt" about a day in advance and stored in a fully automated daily storage facility. Up to 286 BMW automobiles await their new owner in the basement of the futuristic building.
Once the vehicles have been delivered, they are cleaned in the building complex's automatic car wash and polished to a shine in the preparation areas. After entering the handover box, the BMW is handed over to the automated high-bay warehouse. The cars are transported and stored on a grating pallet which is turned lengthways during the journey. The special feature of this single-aisle warehouse is that it has 2 storage and retrieval machines that can drive past each other. Thanks to the redundancy of the systems, the installation has a very high level of availability - after all, no customer should have to drive home without their long-awaited BMW.
