Transport, handling and storage of aluminum foil

Production logistics for yogurt lids

Unitechnik has supplied the automation for the complete automatic transport system for the new Rolling Mill II. The production process for the base film includes delivery of the raw strips by truck, pre-annealing, rolling, doubling, re-rolling, separating, cutting the aluminum foil to the required width and final annealing. The strips are transported to and from the individual processing centers using specially adapted transport equipment. Between the processing steps, the material can be temporarily stored in the high-bay warehouse. After the strips have been cut, up to 4 rolls of film are transported on one core each in an annealing rack. Thanks to an ingenious compartment system, a coil, a bundle or a rack can be stored in each of the 376 compartments in the high-bay warehouse, and the different transport goods are currently moved in the aisle by a stacker crane. With the expansion of the rolling mill by two rolling stands, the prerequisites have already been created for retrofitting a further SRM in the same aisle.
